Shipping Information

Gluten-Free Trading Company now offers three shipping choices:

FedEx is the service most frequently chosen by our customers. FedEx Ground (to business addresses in the US) and FedEx Home Delivery (ground service to residences in the US) offer good reliability at a moderate price. Other available FedEx services include domestic overnight air, second-day air, and international service.

Spee-Dee is a low-cost regional carrier serving Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas, most of Nebraska, and the northern half of Illinois (but not the City of Chicago). Spee-Dee is inexpensive, but the delivery dates are not guaranteed so we do not recommend Spee-Dee for time-sensitive shipments.

USPS is often a cost-effective choice for smaller orders, shipments to Alaska and Hawaii, and some international destinations. It is also the method we use for shipments to post office boxes and overseas US military personnel with APO and FPO addresses.

Our shipping policy is simple: we charge the carrier's published rate (based on weight and distance) plus $1.50 for packing materials. A Shipping Cost Calculator is built into our online shopping page. The calculator estimates the shipping cost based on the current contents of your shopping cart. If you add or remove items, you will need to click the Calculate Shipping link again (the shipping cost estimate does NOT update automatically). Shipping costs shown on the site are ESTIMATES--the shipping cost may vary slightly depending on the weight of packing materials and other factors. The estimates include our packing materials charge.

We strive to ship all orders promptly. Most orders are shipped within two business days, but occasionally it takes longer if products are out of stock or if we have received a lot of orders at the same time. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for things that happen after a parcel leaves our premises. If you want special handling such as rush service, extra insurance, or date-specific delivery, please call us at 414-747-8700 to discuss your requirements.

FedEx has different rates for business and residential deliveries (it is cheaper to ship to a business). According to FedEx policy, "residential delivery" means a delivery made to a home or private residence, including locations where a business is operated from the home. Therefore, we cannot use the "business" rate if the parcel is being shipped to a house or apartment.

The maps below show the FedEx Ground shipping time from Milwaukee to various locations in the United States and the delivery area served by Spee-Dee. Chicago and Minneapolis residents take note: you are just a day away via inexpensive ground service. Express air shipping is also available (because of the cost of air shipping, customers often choose to split their orders, with the most urgently needed items shipped by air and the remainder in a second parcel delivered by ground service). For ground shipments, the carriers have a basic charge for delivering a box, plus a small incremental amount for each extra pound. This means that large ground delivery orders almost always cost less per pound (or per item) compared to small orders.

For international orders we charge a $5.00 fee for preparing the customs documents (this fee is waived for US military APO and FPO addresses). Orders shipped to addresses outside the United States may be subject to certain local restrictions (for example, products containing pork cannot be shipped to Saudi Arabia). Overseas orders may be subject to local customs duties or other import fees; the customer is responsible for paying any charges imposed by government agencies in the destination country.
